John Maldjian is an alumnus of New Hampshire School of Law’s Franklin Pierce Center for Intellectual Property, a world-renowned law school for intellectual property (“IP”). Mr. Maldjian has concentrated his entire legal career in the field of IP law.
IP encompasses all aspects of protectable, intangible assets, resulting from original and creative works, ideas, innovation and commercialization of products and services. However, maximizing the value of IP assets for your specific business needs takes careful planning, long-term professional relationships, and reliance upon experts in a given technology or industry.
Our attorneys and professional staff have extensive experience in assisting clients with creating a substantial business advantage in their respective industries. Whether providing clients a peace of mind, through a clearance opinion, to launching a new product without third party interference, or obtaining a patent to prevent a client’s competition from riding on the advantageous results of extensive research and development, the added value of Maldjian Law Group LLC can greatly enhance your business IP assets.
When John Maldjian, a curiously passionate patent attorney, founded Maldjian Law Group LLC in 2007, he combined his expertise in electrical engineering and twelve years of prior intellectual property (IP) law experience, setting out on a highly-fulfilling journey to help his IP clients bring their ideas to fruition. From fledgling startups to Fortune 500, John works with a wide variety of clients and gives them the tools to identify their valuable IP assets, protect and monetize them.
John developed his passion for innovation and technology at a young age from his father, a mechanical engineer. “He was probably the most intelligent person I’ve ever met, curious about how everything worked until literally the last days of his life. My dad was the consummate ‘thinker and tinkerer’ John said endearingly.
That insatiable appetite for learning new technologies and curiosity was firmly planted in John from taking long walks with his dad and their dog, talking about everything from how we are made of the same material as the stars to how there will be “flying cars” one day.
After several years of practicing as an engineer, John knew, as a patent attorney he could make a larger impact on pushing the envelope of ingenuity and propelling his clients’ ideas through the protection of their inventions.
John is dedicated to harvesting and protecting innovation in all facets of technology and engineering – from electro-mechanical, software, telecommunications, informatics, AI, sustainable energy technology, and the like. He actively communicates with the most interesting and relevant critical thinkers who use these technologies. This is a great way to understand the research community, the private sector, and policy decision makers.
He realizes the knowledge of intellectual property, combined with a strong business sense, can help businesses thrive. To this end, John has taken part in speaking engagements to advise on patents, trademarks and copyright law as well as spread awareness and develop relationships with pioneers who share the same vision.
His big-picture outlook? According to John, “All over the world, emerging markets are seeking solutions to the growing environmental problems of today. For example, one major concern relates to natural resources management, i.e., fresh water, air pollution alternative forms of energy and conservation. As a patent attorney, I represent clients globally who are trying to replace harmful technologies with renewable energy sources. I am very optimistic about the future — if we work together to harvest collective innovations and protect those ideas through patents, we can monetize the effort to change the course and help heal the Earth through innovation and technology.”

Micah Goldsmith, who is Of Counsel with the firm, is a computer scientist and registered patent attorney with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and a J.D. cum laude, from California Western School of Law. He served as editor of the California Western Law Review and International Law Journal and received numerous awards for Pro Bono legal services to the poor including in the areas of immigration, housing, and criminal law.

While with Microsoft, Micah led the creation of significant patent portfolios in the areas of virtual reality hardware and software, natural user interfaces, semiconductors, television, and consumer devices. To that end he has drafted and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications and managed, reviewed, and approved tens of thousands of cases prepared by outside counsel around the world.
Micah has a proven ability to create and monetize a world-class IP portfolio which he has done for both large companies and small inventors. My work certainly had its moments — spending four years in Saudi Arabia setting up electronic surveillance and communications systems during the Iran/Iraq war was an unforgettable experience. But when I returned to the states, I was ready for the next adventure.
I’ve always been drawn to the complex, the analytical, and the gray areas that make life interesting. So I enrolled at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.
Since the beginning of my legal career in the 1990s (aka the internet boom), I’ve been entrenched in the high-tech world of Silicon Valley, first as partner at Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox — one of the most prestigious IP firms in the nation — and then in my own private practice.
I’ve consulted on intellectual property law for high-tech corporations including Google and Intel, helped first-time entrepreneurs secure world-changing patents, and managed high-value patent portfolios that have resulted in millions of dollars in revenue and acquisition deals.
While I have extensive experience counseling massive corporations, there’s an indescribable sense of accomplishment helping solo inventors, startups, and serial entrepreneurs with relentless spirits and endless creativity.
Helping bring new technologies and solutions in the world, watching clients-turned-friends make their first million … it truly never gets old.
